Hike for Hospice 2008
The Henry's Angels team participated in the second annual Hike for Hospice on November 8, 2008 and it was a great success! There were two Hikes this year, we participated at the Zephyrhills location. Our team was fifteen members strong and we raised over $1400 for Gulfside Regional Hospice, exceeding our goal! Many thanks to those who donated and to those who passed along their prayers and well wishes. It was a beautiful day and the weather was great.
We were able to have a meet and greet with Mike Alstott, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer, once again this year. He even gave us a "high five" as we began the Hike! We plan to have photos up on the website soon! It was another successful event for the Henry's Angels team and we plan to participate every year. Thank you for your support!
Hike for Hospice 2007
The innaugural Hospice Hike to benefit Gulfside Regional Hospice was a huge success. (G. R. Hospice helped to care for Henry after he stopped his chemotherapy treatments.) We were all thrilled to raise money for this worthy cause.
Our team met at the New Port Richey Recreation Center bright and early on November 10, 2007. We reached our team goal of $1000! (All donations went directly to Gulfside Regional Hospice.) Thank you to all who donated. Gulfside Regional Hospice raised over $95,000 overall!
A big thank you to all who participated on the Henry's Angels Team. The event was great and we had a good time on our 5K hike. We had beautiful weather and were even able to "rub elbows" with Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Mike Alstott. He was very nice and indulged Angela by autographing Henry's Superbowl hat (making it out to Henry).
Thanks again to all who participated and/or donated to this worthy cause.

Relay for Life 2008
Angela's school, Greco Middle, hosted the Temple Terrace Relay for Life April 18-19, 2008. The Henry's Angels Team participated and raised over $1000 for The American Cancer Society! It was an excellent effort for our first Relay for Life!
The Relay for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society and supports cancer research. Henry was able to participate in 3 or 4 Relay for Lifes during the seven years he battled cancer. It is a great event!
Our team members for 2008 were: Angela, Barb Yeomans, Mary and Charlie Conrod, Cindy Burzinski, Alyssia and Leslie (Angela's students). We also had guest walkers who relieved us for a few laps: Scott, Tiffany and Adriana Carr, Charity and David Arthur, and Melissa Grady.
We had to pick a sports or game theme for our campsite. We chose baseball and our motto was: "Henry's Angels - Striking Out Cancer!" We had a display with photos of Henry and received a certificate for the best "memorial" at a campsite!
We had several fundraisers that night. The most successful was the raffle of gift baskets. Many thanks to the following sponsors who donated items for our gift baskets: Dawn Hair Design, Amethia Nail Spa, Melissa Grady (Tupperware rep.) and Starbucks of New Tampa.
Many thanks to our shirt sponsor: Tom Thibault. Tom graciously paid for our beautiful team shirts which were royal blue and white baseball style shirts with our names embroidered on them. Royal blue is the colon cancer awareness color. Our shirts were designed by Embroidery by Lorraine.
Many thanks to all who sponsored our team and made donations to the American Cancer Society. We appreciate your support!
The Henry's Angels team has already registered for the 2009 Relay for Life which will take place in late March. Details will be published as they become available. We look forward to having a BIG team in 2009!
Annual Hope Lodge
Holiday Dinner
In December of 2007 Henry's Angels served a Holiday Dinner to 60+ patients and caregivers at the Hope Lodge, adjacent to Moffitt Cancer Center, in Tampa. The event was a huge success and we decided to make it an annual tradition. The 2008 Holiday dinner was a beautiful event, as well. We always have a large team of volunteers, including teachers, students, nurses and colleagues. Those who stay at the Hope Lodge are treated to a turkey dinner and all the trimmings, including dessert and cappuccino. The turkey dinner is graciously provided by Bob Evans (Morris Bridge Rd. location). Gift bags are provided to all of the patients. Caregivers are invited to participate in a drawing for a variety of gift items. It always is a lovely evening and we receive many positive comments from patients, caregivers and staff. Thank you to all who volunteer and/or donate to this wonderful cause. Providing cheer to cancer patients is our goal, and smiles are shared by all on this special evening! We are looking forward to the next holiday dinner at the Hope Lodge, scheduled for December 16, 2009.
